Hannibal's House, Sunday Morning
Jono didn't often spend a few nights in succession at somebody else's place. Not unless something was up. And that something, in this case, was apparently Hannibal becoming a mutant with all the same bloody problems that Jono himself had. And, while the lack of a shared breakfast today was a crying shame, Jono was going to rise above that. Why?

//You've never had to not blow up everything before.//

Seemed as good a reason as any to stick around. Possibly to make disgruntled faces when he thought Hannibal wasn't paying attention. Maybe with any luck convince him to un-wish that wish because honestly, nobody deserved that. Especially not for his sake, blast it.

Though he had to admit, there was a sort of twisted schadenfreude in sitting in the kitchen this morning, watching Hannibal make grouchy faces at his coffee machine. He'd be more sympathetic if he hadn't insisted on staying this way, really.

//Welcome to my life, mate.//

[OOC: For that guy!]

Hannibal had had no cause to regret the wish, until now. It still wasn't enough to get him to reverse it, but it was very annoying. //I'm considering the possible merits of pouring it into the flames to see if it does any good, or if it simply makes my spine wet.//

Then he brightened a bit, his expression going delighted and devious. //I wish we could feel the effects of the coffee by simply holding the cup,// he proclaimed with a wave of his hand.

Yes, he'd just used a wish on getting caffeinated. You were welcome, Jono. Hannibal was just going to hold a cup of coffee and be happy.

2015-02-08 10:00 pm (UTC) (Link)

//It'd just make your spine wet,// Jono grumbled. //And a mess... Is that really working?//

Of course it was really working. If a wish could take a man's face clean off, it could probably give him a caffeine rush.

2015-02-08 10:06 pm (UTC) (Link)

//See for yourself. I did say, 'we',// Hannibal pointed out.

2015-02-08 10:15 pm (UTC) (Link)

And now Jono had gone from being morbidly amused that Hannibal had made coffee in the first place to giving him a skeptical side-eye, but reaching to fill a mug all the same.

//... Easily the best wish you've made so far this weekend.//

2015-02-08 10:23 pm (UTC) (Link)

The smell was wonderful; he'd hoped that would be enough. But this very nearly was. //Thank you,// he said, toasting Jono with his mug. //And you've used none of yours,// he pointed out.

2015-02-08 10:30 pm (UTC) (Link)

//Should I have?// Jono shrugged his shoulders a little, clutching the mug close like a lifeline. //There are a lot of things I would like to wish for, but there's not a hell of a lot that I'd only want until it wears off again or backfires in my face.//

A beat.

//Well, that's not completely true. But some of those wishes aren't my place to make, either.//

2015-02-08 10:36 pm (UTC) (Link)

//What sorts of things?// Hannibal asked curiously.

2015-02-08 10:40 pm (UTC) (Link)

//People, mostly,// Jono admitted. //Ones I've lost. Ones who have lost far too much themselves. If this gets taken away again, what right do I have to give somebody a taste of something they can never have again? Everything small seems like such a waste, and everything worth wishing for just seems like a cruel tease. At least when you commit to a wish, you know what you want.//

He was pretty sure Hannibal hadn't intended to knock half his face off.

//There's the other thing, there. This seems like one of those 'careful what you wish for' situations. You asked to understand. You never specified that you wanted a first-hand bloody account.//

2015-02-08 11:30 pm (UTC) (Link)

//Sometimes the small things are the most worthwhile,// Hannibal said. //And sometimes large things are worth having, even if just for a while.//

//The rest, however, is true. Still, it has been a useful experience.//

2015-02-08 11:38 pm (UTC) (Link)

//Yes, well, I wish you could have that same bloody experience without having to blow your own face off in order to get it,// Jono mumbled, glowering down into his coffee.

And then he wasn't glowering down into his coffee at all.

At least Hannibal's face was in one piece again?

2015-02-08 11:43 pm (UTC) (Link)

Hannibal blinked. And tried to orient himself, and...

//Well, at least you've used one of your wishes.//

2015-02-09 12:06 am (UTC) (Link)

"I could've phrased that better," Jono sighed, setting down the coffee - though he was still getting the effects from it, that wish was still holding true - and reaching up to bury his face, Hannibal's face, with one hand. "This wasn't exactly what I had been aiming for."

2015-02-09 12:26 am (UTC) (Link)

//Be careful what you wish for,// Hannibal reminded him. He looked down at his - Jono's - hands. //Well, at least you're already wrapped this time.// The flames really were distracting.

2015-02-09 12:37 am (UTC) (Link)

"And hell if I know where the ones you were wearing have gone. Probably for the best, though. They're not really conducive to things like breathing, if you've actually got to do that."

Jono hesitated for a moment, and then reached for the coffee cup again and took a sip.

Look, if he had a mouth, he wasn't going to let it go to waste.

2015-02-09 12:45 am (UTC) (Link)

Hannibal would hope not!

He nodded decisively. //And you do. And eat. So, breakfast first.// He might not be able to eat, but he could still cook, thank you. //A proper fry-up? Not too greasy,// he warned.
