Room 408, Monday Afternoon
Well. Jonothon's first day of classes had been... Educational.

In Science class, he'd been offered a position as a TA, which had caught him off-guard, really. The people gawping at him when he'd spoken in that Religion class was a little more like what he'd been expecting ever since he'd arrived here, though people seemed to rather consistently take his voice in stride right up until that point.

He was trying damn hard not to dwell on any of it too much. He would have to head into town sometime, to see if they had a music store of some sort. And he needed clothing. He could hardly wear the same outfit for the rest of his time here, and laundry was a particular challenge when you didn't have the option of standing around shirtless, anyhow. He'd have to ask Ben what he knew about the places in town where he could get both or either.

For the time being, he'd settle for flopping backward on his bed and staring up at the ceiling.

Ceilings were bloody boring.

[[The door is open if anybody wants to poke at the kind of smelly guy. Will be a shameless linkdrop soon enough, as well. Because I'm just sneaky like that.]]

Didi jerked her hand back. "What about?"

He furrowed his eyebrows a little. He hadn't wanted to make her jerk away, either. Didn't want to scare her.

But then, he seemed to be a creature that existed for the sole purpose of being terrifying, now. Best he get it over with now.

//I'm dangerous, luv. People around me... they tend to get hurt.//

Not everyone, of course. Just the ones who happened to get too close.

Didi looked at him blankly for a moment.

Hopefully, he wouldn't take it as too much of an insult that she started to laugh. Giggles behind her hand at first, but they quickly expanded to guffaws.

... Righto. Even Jonothon could puzzle out what was so bloody hilarious about what he'd just said with more or less relative ease. He was afraid he'd hurt Death. Brilliant. Well-done, Starsmore. Carry on.

Somehow, a touch of a blush found its way to his cheeks, and he slapped a hand over his eyes and proceeded to feel like an absolute plonker.

"No, no, it's sweet," Didi said, once her laughing had died down. "I just didn't expect it. Usually people are trying to hurt me."

She looked at him, smile still in her eyes. "I'll try to be careful with you. Promise."

Jono was going to need a moment. It had been a while since anyone had referred to him as anything even close to 'sweet.' Still, he eventually did surface from behind his hand, and he fixed her with a look that was both relieved and embarrassed, with a twinge of that worry still lurking somewhere under it all.

//I appreciate that, gel.//

"Believe me when I say it is not a problem," she said, and stood up. "I should go put my stuff away, but I'll see you around, okay, Jono?"

2009-09-02 01:37 am (UTC) (Link)

//Yer will,// Jonothon agreed, nodding faintly. Maybe hiding in his room for the rest of his life wasn't an option, after all.

//Take care, Didi.// A beat. //Thank you.//

"It was nothing," she said, meaning it. She waved a tiny goodbye and was gone.
