The Massachusetts Academy, Early Spring
Jono had a dilemma.

Or, more accurately, Jono had a whole host of dilemmas, all wrapped up into one tidy little envelope, sitting on his nightstand and staring him in the face. In part, of course, because of his face. The letter was, after all, from Xavier. And accepting the proposal in the letter meant a good many things. Leaving Massachusetts. Leaving Angelo and Jubilee and the others behind. He'd done that once before, when he wound up on Fandom Island, and he wasn't entirely certain if doing it now counted as running, or simply moving forward.

And there was the rest of the dilemma, there. Things had been insane for the members of Generation X, lately. Busy, heartbreaking, not particularly easy, and everybody was dealing with these things in their own ways. Surprisingly, the biggest changes to be seen were in Emma and Sean, both of whom were beginning to worry the surviving members of the team. Now would be some pretty rotten timing for Jono to take Xavier up on his offer to join the X-Men. Right?

His eyebrows furrowed a little as he stared again at the letter, and then shook his head, shoving it into his nightstand. He'd sleep on it for a few more nights, and maybe that would help him figure out just where he wanted to go from here. In the meantime, he was pulling out his phone and firing off a short e-mail to his friends.

Believe it or not, I miss you guys. How have things been?

Jonothon's conversation-starting skills needed work. But it was either this, or listen to Paige go on about rescuing trees from some money-hungry oil corporation for the millionth time.

[NFB for distance, but Open for texts, e-mails, surprise multidimensional visits, anything you don't need a mouth for. If you figure your character got Jono's amazingly verbose e-mail, they did, sure! I'm actually around again! Yay, around again!]

Jono was horribly out of practise with this. And was absolutely not complaining that Raven was getting them slightly off topic, for that moment. In fact, he was agreeing with her. It was terribly lucky that he would have a bit of assistance in getting himself back up to snuff in the kissing department.

//What's right for me...//

What was right for him?

More kissing. That part was totally right for him. Absolutely.

//I'll figure it out. Soon. Ish. Soonish.//

He sent another kiss toward her. It might have been a while for him, but at least he was making up the difference in enthusiasm.

//Thank you for listening, Sunshine.//

"I will always listen, or distract, or whatever you need," Raven said, sending him another kiss, deeper this time, letting her shields begin to slide down. Three weeks after Kaeleer and the trip to the future they were finally back to full strength, but around Jono, she didn't need them.

"I love you," she whispered.

//Love you, too,// Jono murmured back, his head spinning as he felt her lips against his. Several months of hearing comments like 'The amazing mouthless boy' had managed to do a number on him. Three seconds of kissing like this was doing wonders to undo all of that. //Missed you. Need t'visit more often.//

All the time. Neverending visit? Why had he left the island, again?

Lord, she was an amazing kisser...

"I have missed you, too," Raven said, as if her actions weren't making that obvious. "Talking to you, kissing you, just touching you."

She tilted her head, nuzzling at his neck. "There are no classes this week, and I do not think it will be missed if I do not open 'Dite's shop on Tuesday. So for however long that is in your world, I am yours."

//Three weeks? Four? Five? When I first found myself on the island, time here went slower. And now it seems t'be rushing by. I've got no clue, beyond 'more.'//

And he certainly wasn't complaining about more, either.

//I can set up my phone to tell me th'date and time in Fandom, though, I think,// said he who was about as software-literate as a radish. //Probably.//

"I left Karla a note to tell her where I was going, as we are sharing an alcove in the cabins," Raven said, moving one hand to slide her fingers through his hair. "I am certain if I am needed in Fandom, she will call me. But I think I am needed here more."

And she needed to be there more.

//Definitely needed here more,// Jono decided. //Karla gets you all th'time. She's just going to have to share, Sunshine.//

Because that was just the way it was. So decreed the guy who was clinging pretty adamantly to Raven at that moment. He was never letting go. Never.

//And I meant it, about that going to Boston thing. Gets us away from here for a while. If yer planning on sticking about for a bit, I think we could both probably use a break from the others being... themselves.//

Much as Jono liked them, and all.

"I would love to go with you," Raven said. "I think it would be refreshing to do something completely normal." And chances were in Harvard Square, no one would even give them a second glance however they were dressed.

She certainly didn't mind the clinging, since she was clinging right back. She did her best in Fandom not to miss him too much, but now that he was here and in her arms again, she realized just how much she did.

//You have no idea just how much I've missed doing things that are completely normal,// Jono replied, giving her a squeeze and sending another kiss her way. //This junior superhero thing is all well and good, but just taking some time to focus on being a teenager isn't half bad, either.//

... A teenager or something like it. He wasn't entirely certain if he was counting birthdays according to the Fandom calendar, or the one that he was going by in Massachusetts, or what. If he just went by the number of days that passed him by, he was pretty certain that he'd be somewhere over twenty, now.

For sanity's sake, he was going to just count birthdays by the amount of July 22nds that he woke up to, instead, regardless of where he was at.

It was potentially going to make birthday and Christmas gifts confusing as well, if July 22 in Fandom wasn't the same as July 22 here. It was less than a month away for her, but longer for him if it was early spring, but since time moved faster, it would likely be his birthday here before it would be in Fandom and...it was going to give her a headache if she thought about it too hard.

Kisses were better to think about, and little nibbles to his neck. "Then we will go see Boston tomorrow," she decided. "How far is it from here? Will we need to find some sort of transportation, or shall we cheat the normal just a tiny bit to teleport?"

furnaceface

2011-06-28 02:20 am (UTC) (Link)

//I think I could be swayed to cheat, just a little,// Jono decided, leaning his head to the side a little and closing his eyes to the feel of teeth against his throat. //Getting into town otherwise would involve asking Sean if we can use his Jeep, and... no.//

No, Jono was not going to drive Sean's Jeep. And no, Jono didn't think Sean would let him borrow it in the first place.

He could ask Emma for a way into town instead, but, well, Emma was bloody terrifying lately. So, not so much.

"So I will kidnap you and teleport us to the city," Raven said. Her mouth moved up his neck, and she caught his earlobe between her teeth. "And then we will spend a completely normal day doing completely normal things."

She wasn't entirely sure how to be completely normal, but she was willing to give it a try.

furnaceface

2011-06-28 02:32 am (UTC) (Link)

//Completely normal,// Jono agreed, trying not to melt too obviously as he leaned back toward her. //Things like... like shopping... and...//

And what? What in the world did completely normal kids do these days?

Jono was at a bit of a loss.

//And things.//

Yes. That should sum it up nicely.

"I do not know much of Boston, but I do know there are many colleges are there," Raven said. "Surely those students can tell us the interesting things to do."

Not that she could think of any right now herself, since normal was such a foreign concept, and, well, she was far more occupied with the boy in her arms.

//Colleges?// Jono blinked one eye open and gave Raven a somewhat bemused look at that. //I'm certain they'd be able to point us in th'direction of all th'best bars in town, actually...//

No, Jono. Not allowed.

//... And probably some good places t'go sightseeing and such, as well.//

Not that he couldn't do all the sightseeing he wanted, right here.
