Told you so

Room 408, Monday Evening
Well, that was that for one of his classes of the summer months. Jono couldn't help it, there was an empty spot on his nightstand where Hendrix the fish had lived for the whole of a week, and now he was contemplating perhaps filling it with... Another fish. Or something of the like.

Odds were low that he'd accidentally kill it, right? Maybe?

//Perhaps I ought to get a rock, instead,// he mused to himself, rearranging the junk that had accumulated on his side of the room to make it all look a little less empty. //But then, I managed to get you through the week more-or-less in one piece, too, didn't I?//

He glanced at the cat who was curled up at the foot of his bed. There would have been something horribly wrong if he'd failed to properly cat-sit his girlfriend, after all.

[I haven't tacked up a room post in foreeeever. Closed door, but the post is open if anyone wants to swing by.]

The cat glanced back at him through slanted eyes. she was Npot Speaking to him just then. He'd given the fish back -- and hadn't even let her take a good swat at it. It was like he hated nature.

She stretched up to her feet and meandered toward him. Despite all his failings, he had a lovely warm chest she could lie on.

And, wrapped tightly in bandages at he was, there wasn't even any chance that she could fall in.

... He'd maybe double-wrapped over the past few days, just to be on the safe side. Felines had some sort of ridiculous superpower when it came to stepping on people, where a single paw could weigh up to a quarter-tonne, even if the cat in question was only a few pounds.

//You've been good company, at least. A little less... talkative than I'm used to, from you. But friendly enough, when yer not in a mood.//

He was chalking the moods up to being 'cat things.'

Well, really, how talkative could she be when she was a cat? She was far too dignified to think at him. She graciously padded onto his chest and stretched out, purring a bit to thank him.

And this was when she turned back into a girl. She'd be purring a moment or two more before she noticed.

As if Jono was going to protest to having his girlfriend on top of him, looking a bit like the cat who had gotten the cream, and... well... naked.

//Yer good company like this too, of course,// he mused. And if he sounded pleased at this development while he lifted a hand to rest on the small of her back, could anyone really blame him?

"Hmmm?" And that was when she realized she had proper vocal cords, and a body that wasn't covered with fur, and -- oh dear god she was naked on top of Jono. Which wasn't exactly the worst thing ever, but it was a plasce where she usually ended up in very different circumstances.

She swatted at him a bit, lazily, before groaning and rolling to the side. (Though she did it slowly enough that his hand could pretty much stay where it was.) "Can I steal a shirt, or am I going to have to break into Jak's closet?"

//I'm certain I have something you can wear,// Jono replied, a little lazily himself. He was absolutely going to let his hand linger there for a moment before he bothered to sit up, thank you. She had a perfectly lovely back, and he had been made to deal with a smaller, fuzzier version over the course of the past week.

Okay, moment taken, he was going to roll over and pull himself to his feet, now.

//Something with an elastic waistline and a t-shirt, perhaps? I'd offer something besides pyjamas, but my hips and yers are decidedly not th'same shape.//

Leather. Not exactly the most forgiving of materials.

The small, fuzzy back was perfectly nice, thank you.

Just ... not as nice as this one. Didi moved a bit, randomly, just getting used to feeling human again. "Are you calling me fat?" she asked, not sounding too bothered about it either way. "Pajamas sound perfect, anyhow. Especially since I've been naked the last .... how long was it? A week?"

//I'm not calling you fat,// Jono countered, //I'm calling myself rail-thin.//

Which he was. He'd been thin before his powers had manifested, and spending a few years not being able to eat was not exactly going to ever grant him a set of washboard abs and some manly, rippling biceps or anything.

//Yer just th'right size.//

Ah, there they were. The Guitar Hero pyjama bottoms that Makita had tossed his way when he'd cracked and gone shopping, and a plain black t-shirt. He offered both of them her way with a wink.

Didi wasn't exactly the curviest girl in the world herself, but she had to admit she was a little less bony than Jono was. "Okay, but you're the perfect size too," she said, pulling on the t-shirt and pants. "... guitar hero. These are cute!"

//Cute?// Jono blinked at the trousers in question, twitching an eyebrow upward at that exclamation as if it was going to take him a bit of work to get his brain around that one. //Mostly, I was going for 'functional,' and 'comfortable,' really. Cute was th'last thing from my mind.//

They were adorable. And they also hadn't been seared at by the grabbing hands of a swarm of children made of embers.

"Too bad," Didi said cheerfully. "You got stuck with cute."

She sat back down and added, "Did I miss anything? All I remember from being a cat is your fish."

//Nothing that leaps immediately to mind,// Jono replied, giving his shoulders a shrug before flopping down on the bed once again himself. //I went to work, magic reserves were cancelled last week. I was a little preoccupied making certain you didn't eat Hendrix, so I didn't make it to th'library yesterday. It was more or less a week of little note, beyond that whole 'my girlfriend was a cat' part.//

Lots of taking things easy. Lots of living life in denial that anything had happened the weekend before to terrify the living heck out of him. And such.

"Poor Hendrix," Didi said. "Thanks for keeping me clear of Slim and Wandsworth, too. I owe them a new castle or something."

She moved back to lean against the wall, relaxing. "Good. You deserved a quiet week. Even if I was a cat for it."
