Hannibal's House (that Jono ignores that his own apartment even exists in favour of), Saturday
Some days were 'nope' days.

Nope days were those days when Jono rolled over, and, in spite of having real life functional human being things to do that day, took one look around the room and decided, nope, he wasn't going to go outside today, he wasn't going to go to work today, and he sure as hell wasn't going to hang around the house with his flames out and wild today. Most days weren't quite nope days. He'd made enough progress over the years that he was generally pretty reliable when it came to his job, and he knew that Hannibal's house was a safe space to bare his flames in.

He noped. He slept in. He read a book. He poked around on his phone to see what in the world Tony had done to the thing. And then, when he couldn't justify staying in bed any longer without having to explain that the bed was his home now, he was moving in and wasn't going to be social ever again, he lugged himself out and into his makeshift workroom to do something productive. There were a few last tweaks he wanted to make to his old collar today, and taking the day off and doing so meant he had an excuse for most of the nopes that he'd noped the hardest about.

Score.

[OOC: Mainly for that one guy, but if you have any desire to visit or call or text or what-have-you, go for it!]

Hannibal let Jono have his nope time, and spent his morning in breakfast, renovation quotes, trying to figure out if he had to pay taxes (and if so, if he were going to), and playing harpsichord.

Once Jono got enough energy to get up, though, Hannibal gave him time to settle in and went downstairs to see him. He lounged in the doorway of the room, watching Jono tinker with the collar.

Jono appreciated getting the space, honestly. It was easy enough to tell when he needed it. Generally the first hint was the whole 'blowing off the morning workout' bit.

//Morning,// he said, once he realized that Hannibal was hanging out in the doorway. He gave only a cursory glance up and a nod before returning his attention to his tinkering. //How goes it?//

Casual morning talk. Mostly just the basic stuff to fill dead air with.

"I've been having a quiet day, the most part." Hannibal nodded to him. "And you?"

//Quiet,// Jono agreed, because that was... well, it was the easy answer. Jono was good at the easy answers, today. But because Hannibal deserved more than monosyllabic conversation, he added, //Trying to incorporate some psi-senstive tech into this thing, but having a difficult go at it. Might take it to Tony one of these days, see if he's up to the challenge.//

Because he trusted Barry, fine, but Tony was, if not from his own world, from a world similar enough that the technical aspects of his psionics would probably be similar.

//If I decide I'm willing to trust Tony with it, anyway.//

It was still his precious baby.

"You could ask him to help with the interface, perhaps give him the blueprints?" Hannibal suggested. "He wouldn't need the actual collar."

He came up to stand behind Jono, one hand in his hair.

Jono leaned his head back at that, sending him a warm little wave of appreciation. It was a nope day, but it was always nice to get those little gestures of affection regardless.

//True enough,// he agreed. //Though he wouldn't be likely to have it for long, if he took the thing and had his way in it, it would probably also fire lasers and make coffee.//

And what use did Jono have for coffee?

"I have no intention of giving up my coffee-making position," Hannibal said, deadpan. "Beyond that, it's your decision."

He ran his fingers through Jono's hair, petting him soothingly. "Is it something you'd want to do?"

//I don't know,// Jono murmured. //I think I'd make a lousy barista.//

... Look, even on nope days, Jono couldn't always resist being a little shit.

That's all right; Hannibal was taking it as a good sign that Jono hadn't lost his sense of humor.

He smiled and tugged on the ends of Jono's hair. "Everybody has their shortcomings."

//Think you'll be able to deal with me, knowing mine?//

It was possible that was just as much about the barista joke as it was a serious question about the rest of it. Yes, he knew, logically, that Hannibal accepted him, shortcomings and all. It would be a bloody ridiculous move to marry somebody if he didn't, for a start. But it was nice to hear, on occasion.

"I have complete confidence," Hannibal answered calmly. "Do you have reason to think otherwise?"

//No, of course not,// Jono sighed, shaking his head. //Just... sharks.//

Circling in his mind, taking bites out of his footholds, hoping for him to fall in.

//Sometimes, there really isn't anything for them. Distractions. Me-time. They'll get bored and move on.// He paused, and then picked up the collar and held it to Hannibal. //See if this still fits? I didn't change much, but there should be finer flight control now, even though most of the other tech is out.//

"Do we need to have another shark-killing expedition?" Hannibal asked. He took the collar, but didn't move to put it on yet. "Which ones is it today?"

//An old favourite,// Jono replied, turning his chair around to look at Hannibal wryly. //Stagnation's the big one, I think. Ridiculous, I know. It isn't as though we haven't been busy...//

But running a music shop and doing part-time teaching in New York wasn't exactly the sort of proactive lifestyle that he'd adjusted to.

"Well, you are settling down. Getting married." Hannibal smirked. There was nothing at all stagnant about their getting married, or the incredible amount of preparation for that.
